Anima- Please Help us, we are in Danger!

<27-02-2017> Message from the President Dear friends, We may not survive this year if we are not capable to balance our accounts and generate enough funds to support our daily activities for the protection of animals and our campaigns to inform and educate the community, specially children and young people. Anima is facing in his beginning of 2017 a very serious financial situation with a liability of MOP 2,319,704.91, a consequence of the increase of our activity in the last years. Our expenses have jumped due to the extreme expensive bills from vet clinics (last year we paid MOP 1,015,396.50 with vets clinics), food for animals (MOP 1,157,435.43), including animals in sites as we help more than 30 areas out of Anima, helping around 1,900 cats and 377 dogs, besides our own animals that reach 584 (only dogs and cats, excluding hamsters, rabbits and turtles)! Our total expenses “directly” with animals...

We are trying our best!

We are not the best, may be not better than other organizations that in Macau fights like us for the rights of the animals! We make mistakes but we work hard and honestly to organize ourselves and survive. We have two very fundamental principles in our Organization: NO-Kill and No-Cage. Both creates a lot of problems to us but also incentives us to work harder to find solutions as we are full! Macau is a very small town, sometimes more similar to a village than we expected. There are people here that talks about all, and sometimes in our back. Everybody is free to talk in this town, but must be accountable for what says. We are a democratic organization. Every member has a vote, can elect or be elected! If you are our friend, it doesn’t matter if you always support our decisions, but if you think we deserve the consideration...

Please pay attention

We are totally sure that many animal lovers want the best for the animals that live in the streets. But we have to understand that loving or respecting the rights of the animals doesn’t mean necessarily that we make crazy decisions in our life collecting all animals in the streets and putting them in our home. We have several of these situations in Macau, we may understand the frustrations of some members of our community, but we disagree! We think this is not a solution neither for the people nor for the animals! We have also people putting tight collars to animals that live in the streets, and seem not controlled by anybody, forgetting that animals grow up, some get fat, and others may have allergies to some collars. These collars may deeply hurt the animals! We are seeing now many animals free in the streets with such...
