Do you know that the Canidrome kills 30 dogs every month, majority healthy animals because they are not competitive?

Do you know that this means that in 2 years’ time Canidrome has killed all the greyhounds?

Do you want that to continue?

Why they do that?

Because they import the same number of dogs and sell them in public auctions at 6 times the prices they bought in!

And do you know that that money is not taxable?

Do you know that from January to June this year (2015) they pocketed 3,134,000 MOP in those sales?

Do you know that the Casinos pay around 40% of taxes over their Gross income and the Canidrome only pay 25%?

Do you know that because of that the Government didn’t collect from them the remaining? Which is, only in last year,  21,750,000 MOP?

Let’s do the calculations: do you know that they are only profitable because they pay lower taxes than the casinos and they are authorized to sell the dogs in public auctions? Otherwise they will lose money!

Do you know that the Government only obliges the Canidrome to make 12 races per day and they make 18?

Do you know that the Government only obliges the Canidrome to make 160 days of races per year and they make around 264 days per year?

Do you know that as a result of that slavery and because the track is so old and no investment in maintenance , the number of accidents increases?

Do you know that sometimes more than 40% of those animals cannot compete because they are tired, sick or injured?

Do you know that Canidrome track is the worst in the world? Injured animals may reach sometimes 20%?

Do you know that Anima was the one to convince the Government to force them to have a real adoption program in March 2012?

But do you know that Canidrome did nothing? Do you know that Canidrome do not have a real adoption program?

Do you know that from 2012 up to now only four animals were sent to the kennel for adoption and the first one was “adopted” by its own vet and lives in his clinic, not at home?

What Anima will do if the Canidrome closes?

Anima is asking the government to allow Anima handle the dogs there (inside Canidrome) for one year time and during that period:

a.Owners will take them back;

b. Anima will make adoptions;

c. Anima will transfer dogs to other countries help by the other international animal welfare organizations;

d. Anima will prepare its new shelter for receiving the remaining dogs.
