January Rescue and Sad News (SPP1985-SPP1989)!

SPP1985-Marika (F), around four years old, SPP1986-Midian (M) and SPP1987-Miner (M), both around two years old, SPP1988-Miles (M), around one year old, SPP1989-Milton (M), around four months old, under our Special Protection Program now, were rescued by Anima on 28th January 2018, after a call from Ms. Lo reporting that she used to feed stray dogs in an area but some of them seems sick recently.
SPP1985-Marika was found under a car and looked unconscious, the others have nasal and ocular discharges with coughing.
She was sent to a clinic immediately and the distemper test showed positive.
According to the vet, there’s nothing we could do for her as the virus already attacked her nervous system, brain and spinal cord.
SPP1985-Marika started having convulsions, seizures and paralysis.
As she began to enter in suffer, after discussion with the vet and approved by two of our board members, we made a sad decision to put her sleep.
Last decision belongs always to the President of Anima, and it is not an easy decision!
SPP1986-Midian, SPP1987-Miner and SPP1989-Milton were sent to clinic and did the distemper test as well.
The result for SPP1986-Midian was positive, SPP1987-Miner and SPP1989-Milton were negative.
SPP1987-Miner and SPP1989-Milton also did an x-ray as they have difficulty to breathe.
Report showed that SPP1987-Miner’s intestine was inside the chest and SPP1989-Milton has pneumonia.
They are all staying in the clinic for closely observation, quarantine and treatment.
SPP1988-Miles is healthy and we will keep an eye on him in that area.
