Anima-October Return and Rescue (1502-Saskia)!

1502-Saskia (F), a dog around nine years old, was originally rescued by Anima on 21st July 2015, when she was four years old, being found limping in Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos.
She would recover and was adopted on 16th December 2016. Sadly, she was returned to our shelter on 19th December 2016, as the adopter claimed his daughter had an allergy.
On 26th January 2017, she would be adopted once again, by a different adopter.
Recently, in the beginning of this month, we received a call from Saskia adopter’s mother claiming that Saskia has behaviour problems, bites things at home, including furniture, and even wounded herself. They claimed to have taken Saskia to a clinic and an animal trainer already, without improvements.
We informed that returning Saskia to a shelter wouldn’t, unfortunately, minimize the issue. Given the lack of options, we asked her if she could keep Saskia for some more time, giving her a chance to continue the rehabilitation process, and allowing us the time needed to find space in our overcrowded shelter.
A few days ago, however, Saskia adopter’s mother contacted us once again, reporting that she doesn’t intend to keep Saskia anymore, as her behaviour problems persist. She insisted that Anima should collect her right away. We explained that our Dogs’ Shelter is still completely full and we are not in conditions to receive Saskia immediately.
Today, we were informed that Saskia was abandoned in Macau Kennel. Being a dog originally from Anima, and fearing for her condition, we had no other option than to rescue her immediately.
This creates further pressure on the already unsustainable situation of overcrowding in our shelters!
An adoption is a serious decision! Please do it responsibly!
