Anima – Statistics about Cats and Dogs in 2015!
Please pay attention! This information do not refers to the number of animals we have but the activity we have had in 2015!
Anima has rescued in 2015, 397 animals, around 33 per month or one per day!
Of those, 188 were neutered and the remaining is only waiting a recovery and the appropriate age.
In the same period 184 animals were adopted.
The huge death of animals is explained by the poor condition of them when arrived, or because they were already collected dead or by some diseases that sometimes happen in crowded shelters, even if we try our best to have a proper quarantine and hygiene.
That is one of the reasons why Anima considers adoption a master issue!
Anima adopts the policy of No-Kill and No-Cage, policies that limit our capacity to increase the number of rescues or oblige us to be more selective in our rescue operations!
In 2014, we rescued 379 dogs and cats and we were able to make only 166 adoptions!
Please understand, without adoptions we can not save more animals!
Please be part of the solution, please be active!
There are community members that usually complains when we tell them we have no space.
Please be pragmatic!
Anima is not a warehouse of animals!
Just because we are an association that protects animals this doesn’t necessarily mean that animals can be dumped to our shelter!
We need to keep a proper balance between animals and space, otherwise we are saving animals that will be killed by others or kill others!
Animals living with us have a life with quality! Not as good as if you could adopt or find friends to adopt them!
But they have in Anima play times and thousands of visitors per year!
In the last three years Anima received 16,311 visitors!
Our toilets are now being used as pens for animals!
We have no more space! Please understand! Even in such situation we analyze case by case before any rescue decision is taken!
Thank you!
