Anima-Official Zheng Guanying School visited us!

<24-02-2021> Today, we were visited by 41 people, of which 13 students and 2 teachers were from Oficial Zheng Guanying School (EOZS) who came to our Cats’ Paradise for a short interview about our four-legged companions and donated canned food. The interview was held by one of our board members, Mr. Roberto, in portuguese language. Thank you for your visit and support! Education is the key issue for changing the cruelty environment against animals. Pets are for life! More and more visitors come to Anima! In 2020, we were visited by 10.495 people, compared with 7.487 visitors in 2019. Anima–February Adoption (C1163-Maddie)!

<24-02-2021> Maddie was adopted by Ms. Chong, today! C1163-Maddie (F), around two years old by the time, was rescued by Anima on 16th April 2016, after a call from Mr. Wong reporting that a pregnant cat was found in Toi San. Six kittens, C1167-Mattie, C1168-Mecifer, C1169-Migget, C1170-Minco, C1171-Marcy and C1172-Mayton were born from her on 19th April 2016. Maddie had been adopted by Ms. Campbell on 19th November 2016. Ms. Campbell, however, had to move back to her home country unexpectedly, due to the CoViD-19 Pandemic, and gave Maddie to an ex-colleague. Unfortunately, her colleague couldn’t also take care of Maddie and the cat was returned to our Cat’s Paradise on 28th May 2020. Anima–February Return (SPPC2527-Susie)!

<24-02-2021> SPPC2527-Susie (F), around seven months old, was rescued by Anima on 19th February 2021 and she is under our Special Protection Program, under Ms. Carla responsibility at her workplace, Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro. A cat trap was lent to Ms. Carla and she caught her. Susie was sent directly to a clinic where she was defleaed, dewormed and desexed. SPPC2527-Susie was released back on the patio, today! Anima–February Rescue (C2526-Martins)!

<19-02-2021> C2526-Martins (M), around one year old, was rescued by Anima on 19th February 2021, after a call from Mrs. Chui reporting that a cat she used to feed in an abandoned yard at Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde, is not eating for two days. C2526-Martins was immediately rescued and sent to a clinic for consultation. A large abscess was found in his back and is ruptured when touched, discharging a foul-smelling secretion. According to the vet, he has severe Sepsis and an abscess. A drainage tube was placed in wounds and abdomen to evacuate fluids that would otherwise accumulate due to dead space, inflammation, infection, and/or necrosis. Blood test’s result indicated that he has a high level of lymphocyte, monocytes, platelet, and anemia as well. He is at the risk of death as his condition has not a positive prognostic. C2526-Martins will stay in the clinic, under veterinary supervision. Thanks, Mrs. Chui! Please help...

Anima-February Sad News (C2246-Rae)!

<18-02-2021> Sadly, our cat C2246-Rae (F) has passed away in a clinic today. Rae’s health condition was getting worst on these days. She had to stay under fluids, then stopped eating. After receiving treatment, her liver still was not working properly. C2246-Rae was sent to a clinic. According to the vet, it was seen a mass on Rae's liver. However, it could be a tumor or hematoma, and needed biopsy to confirm. The prognosis was bad as the mass was big and very hard to be removed. Rae also was tested positive for FCoV (Feline Corona Virus), developed into FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). She was hospitalized. Unfortunately, despite all medical efforts, she did not survive. Anima–February Return (C2525-Twinky)!

<18-02-2021> C2525-Twinky (F), around four months old, was rescued by Anima on 17th February 2021, and now she is in our Special Protection Program, under Ms. Carla's responsibility at her workplace Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro. A cat trap was lent to Ms. Carla and she caught Twinky. The kitten was directly sent to a clinic where Twinky was checked, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed. Anima–February Rescue (C2525-Twinky)!

<17-02-2021> C2525-Twinky (F), around four months old, was rescued by Anima on 17th February 2021, and now she is in our Special Protection Program, under Ms. Carla responsibility at her workplace Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro. A cat trap was lent to Ms. Carla and she caught Twinky. The kitten was directly sent to a clinic where Twinky was checked, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed. Anima-February Sad News (390-Happy)!

<07-02-2021> Sadly, our dog 390-Happy has passed away in a clinic today. Happy’s health was unstable for the last days and she could not stand up at the beginning. She was sent to a clinic for consultation. According with the vet, she might have a tumor. Symptoms showed her suffering. Although a surgery was about to be performed, it was also suggested by the clinic to euthanize her to end the pain. Unfortunately, despite all medical efforts, she did not survive.
