Anima- New space opened for kittens play: The Kittens’ Corner in B3

Anima decided to open to the public a space where our kittens are fully free. The life is always a risk, keeping animals caged is not our option. It will be never our option! Please visit the space and be very carefully as they are completely crazy jumping and running very fast. Move slowly, sit down and enjoy them! And if you like anyone please consider making an adoption. We suggest always the adoption of two as the cats need a buddy! They are very independent but they need and like to play, especially in these ages. The space called “The kittens’ corner” is located in out basement, pen B3! Anima – July Rescue (1487-Spring, 1488-Summer, 1489-Autumn and 1490-Winter)

Four puppies, 1487-Spring, 1488-Summer, 1489-Autumn and 1490-Winter were found abandoned in the middle of the road between the water company and Anima this morning around 8:55am. 1489-Autumn had a wound on her neck and all of them had skin problems. There are irresponsible members of the community that do not neuter their pets creating a lot of problems to us as we have no space. They try to deliver back to us animals that they adopted or bought sometimes even years ago, knowing that we are full. Sometimes we may understand, even disagreeing, but in the majority of times they invoke stupidities or lies like : “I am pregnant, the animal has worms that will affect my baby, bite my husband, my son, etc”. Anima – Esc. Luso Chinesa Técnico-Profissional with us”!

Today 43 people visited us, 28 were from Escola Luso Chinesa Técnico-Profissional! More and more visitors come to Anima! Last year we have 5,511 visitors as compared with 5,032 visitors in 2013, an increase of around 9.5%! In 2015, up to the end of June, we had 2,972 visitors an increase of 6.3% as compared with 2,796 in the same period of 2014! 32 groups of schools, associations and companies have visited us! Anima – Statistics about Cats and Dogs

Anima has rescued in the period 189 animals, around 32 per month! Of those, 67 were de-sexed and the remaining is only waiting a recovery and the appropriate age. In the same period 78 animals were adopted. The huge death of animals is explained by the poor condition of them when arrived, or because they were already collected dead or by some diseases that sometimes happen in crowded shelters, even if we try our best to have a proper quarantine and hygiene. Anima adopts the policy of No-Kill and No-Cage, policies that limit our capacity to increase the number of rescues or oblige us to be more selective in our rescue operations! Last year we rescued 379 dogs and cats and we were able to make only 166 adoptions! Please understand, without adoptions we can not save more animals! Anima – Our Policy About Animals

Anima is a Society that protects all animals, not only dogs or cats, birds or rabbits. Any living creature is subject to our concern. No animal, including those that belong to our chain of food consumption (not all of us are veggies activists) should be treated with cruelty. Animals that belong to our chain of food consumption should be respected and any unnecessary cruelty treatment should be severely punished. We are a kind of Association that respects life. As so, we do not kill, unless in very extreme situations, mainly when animals enter in suffer! There are organizations, even SPCA and especially PETA (please read the controversy number of kills from this organization in USA), that kills animals because they think is better killing them than leaving them subject to unnecessary risk outside our houses. C732-Pitaya was adopted last year on 31 August 2015, and is now the centre of a family discussion as some members want her to be returned as the owner is pregnant.
