Anima – Donation from Estrela do Mar School!

<20-07-2016> Anima was invited to participate on 8th July 2016, in the event E-Memory, organized by the students of the School Estrela do Mar, in Macau. The event began at around 5:30 pm with around 100 students in the beginning, and as usual the speeches came first: by the Principal of the school, followed by our President and Ms. Paulina Luk, our Executive Director. Our messages were about animals, our code of ethics and how can they help us helping the animals! All the event was totally organized by the students with a lot of music. The net income of the event, included the moneys deposited in our donation box, all amounting MOP 2,449.90 was donated to Anima by the students’ decision! Thanks for your strong support! Anima – Donation from Birmingham Greyhound Protection!

Anima has received a donation of GBP 200 (equivalent to MOP 2,124.00) from Birmingham Greyhound Protection, a group of animal rights’ activists in Great Britain fighting for the protection of greyhounds against the cruelty of the tracks, where thousands of animals are killed every year. Birmingham Greyhound Protection is a closed group with 5,643 members and Anima was invited to be one of them! They had an auction where two pictures made by the local artist Caroline Hazell were sold. Birmingham Greyhound Protection will help us to re-home the greyhounds of Macau if Canidrome is willing to give them to us. Anima has requested the Macau Chief Executive and the Secretary for Economics and Financial Affairs to help us in this demand once the Canidrome is closed as we all in Macau and internationally expect! Anima – July Rescue (B033-Dominic)!

B033-Dominic was rescued by Anima on 15th July 2016, after a call from Mr. Chan, a mechanic, reporting that a bird was trapped  inside an air-con. Anima – July Sad News (1756-Canaan)!

1756-Canaan (F), around two months old, was rescued by Anima on 29th June 2016, after a call from Ms. Chan reporting that a puppy was found in a carton box in a construction site of MGM, soaking from the rain earlier, shaking and barely moving. We picked up Canaan and she was checked by our vet. Parvovirus test and Distemper test both were negative. She had difficulty in breathing and the gums were pale, right eye was blind. She was sent to a clinic for further consultation and examination. Blood test showed she was anemic. She was staying in clinic under IV dripping. She came back but suddenly collapsed. She went to another clinic that after several examinations suspects could be a bacterial infection that affected the brain or the central nerve system. She entered in suffer and with the favorable vet opinion we decided to stop her suffer! R.I.P. my friend! Please help us to...

Anima – July Rescue (C1236-Carr)!

C1236-Carr (M), around 1.5 years old, was rescued by Anima on 14th July 2016, after a call from Ms. Chan reporting that she used to feed four cats in the Pou Tai Un temple but the monks and nuns were not friendly to the cats and also do not allow her to feed them. One of the cats is pregnant! We lent a trap for Ms. Chan to catch them. Thanks Ms. Chan! Please help us to help them! Never Abandon your pet! Anima – Regras Mínimas para se ser um adoptante!

<10-07-2016> A Anima agradece a todas as famílias que queiram adoptar um dos nossos animais! Este ano, até Junho, tivémos 108 resgates de cães e apenas 44 adopções! 135 resgates de gatos e apenas 61 adopções! A Anima está muito interessada em aumentar as adopções e os acolhimentos, e neste ultimo caso apenas para animais que tenham menos possibilidades em serem adoptados! Contudo, se aquando duma adopção não conhecemos bem um adoptante, mesmo depois da nossa ficha de adopção ser preenchida, há regras mínimas para se aceitar um pedido de adopção, se o adoptante não for residente. Claro que todas as regras se aplicam por igual a residentes e não residentes, mas há casos com não-residentes que convém acautelar: 1- Se não é residente local, tem de nos convencer que leva o animal consigo quando deixar Macau.
