ANIMA-Donation of IFT event of 18th November 2015!

“The 6th Macau Slow Food Awards & Gala Dinner “ was organized by IFT and was held on 18 Nov 2015 at IFT Education Restaurant. Anima – December Adoption Day!

Anima has an adoption day outside Anima on the last Sunday of every month. Around 20 people have visited us! Anima was supported in this event by nine volunteers, Angelica, Nero, Jody, Loretta, Diana, Yuwai, Panda, Alan and Yuki and took eight of our dogs. Today in the adoption day we received one application for volunteer. Anima has now 527 volunteers! Please do not buy, Adopt! Donation from IFT event on 18th November 2015!

12 years of Anniversary commemorated with work!

Anima was officially created in 2003, December 11 by a group of 11 founder members. The initiative came from Albano Martins, the actual President of Anima, after being alerted in the beginning of 2003 by Fátima Galvão, that there was no law in Macau for the protection of animals. Following her suggestion the first name of the Association became Anima. Regina Pais, that unfortunately has left us few years ago, has joined the team and was part of the trio that began to give life to the charter of Anima. The job was afterwards transferred to professional lawyers. Before Anima was set up there was not any animal protection organization in Macau. Today there are five more, but only two with shelters and three active! Before Anima some activists for the rights of the animals had tried to establish this kind of organization 15 years ago but their mistake was to try...

Anima – Why Adoption is our key piece!

Anima has rescued from January to September 2015,  286 animals, around 32 per month or one per day! Now we want 50 adoptions per month to allow us to save more animals and return less to the sites! In the same period only 113 animals were adopted. Anima adopts the policy of No-Kill and No-Cage, policies that limit our capacity to increase the number of rescues or oblige us to be more selective in our rescue operations! Last year we rescued 379 dogs and cats and we were able to make only 166 adoptions! Please understand, without adoptions we can not save more animals! There are people that only complain but do nothing when we need their help! Just because we are an association that protects animals this doesn’t mean necessarily that animals can be dumped to our shelter! Anima – Adopt or  get adopters and get a 5,000 cash prize!

Anima is launching a monthly adoption cash reward, beginning today! Why? We need more space for animals rescued as the number of abandonments is increasing substantially and next year one construction site may be redeveloped and we need to get prepared to save 60 to 70 dogs! If we have no space in Anima we are not able to help! Lucky draws will take place on the first Sunday of every month at 4:00 pm in Anima headquarters, beginning on 6th December! This is a win-win process: if we have more adopters we can save more animals and you will have more chances to get the cash prizes!
