Anima – January Sad News (SPPC1088-Qing)!

SPPC1088-Qing was rescued by Anima on 14th December 2015 after a call from Michele reporting that he was found bleeding from the eyes and nose. Qing was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma after a blood test result was returned from Hong Kong. Qing was euthanized after a favorable opinion of a vet and two board members approval. Anima – January Rescue (C1101-Artemis)!

C1101-Artemis was rescued by Anima after a call from Ms. Lei regarding that a cat was found on the street near Teatro de Pedro V. According to Ms. Lei, Artemis was very weak, hardly breathing and was not moving. As it was an emergency situation, we asked Ms. Lei to take Artemis to a clinic nearby first as it would take us a long time to arrive there. Artemis was delivered to the clinic and she had to stay in the clinic for observation as she was very weak. Artemis passed out for a while when brought in, with low temperature and low blood sugar. Anima – January Rescue (C1100-Tut Tut)!

C1100-Tut Tut was rescued by Anima after Mr. Peter contacted us reporting that a cat was trapped inside a locked backyard of a temple in Macau and the cat had not had any access to food and water for 6 days. Mr. Peter has been feeding stray cats in the area for years, and the mother of Tut Tut has passed away recently. Mr. Peter said the people in the temple refused to open the backyard door and the neighborhood was not friendly to strays cats, so Mr. Peter asked us to help and collect Tut Tut. As our rescue team arrived the place, Tut Tut was found trapped on the roof of a confined room in the backyard. Anima – January Rescue and Sad News (C1099-Anisa)!

C1099-Anisa was rescued by Anima after a call from Mr. Chiu reporting that a cat was hit by a car near R. Um do Bairro da Areia Preta. She was suffered from severe injuries. Our rescue team arrived after 10 minutes and C1099-Anisa was found died already. According to the witness, Anisa was hit by a car. The dead body of Anisa was delivered to IACM by Anima. Anima – January Rescue and New SPP (SPP1628-Hakon)!

SPP1628-Hakon was rescued by Anima after a call from Mr. Chan reporting that Hakon was found refusing to eat since few days ago. Hakon is a male, around 5 years old. SPP1628-Hakon, now under our Special Protection Program, was delivered to a clinic for a consultation. The blood test showed that he was severely anemic. Hakon is staying with us now. Anima – Statistics about Cats and Dogs in 2015!

Please pay attention! This information do not refers to the number of animals we have but the activity we have had in 2015! Anima has rescued in 2015, 397 animals, around 33 per month or one per day! Of those, 188 were neutered  and the remaining is only waiting a recovery and the appropriate age. In the same period 184 animals were adopted. The huge death of animals is explained by the poor condition of them when arrived, or because they were already collected dead or by some diseases that sometimes happen in crowded shelters, even if we try our best to have a proper quarantine and hygiene. That is one of the reasons why Anima considers adoption a master issue! Anima adopts the policy of No-Kill and No-Cage, policies that limit our capacity to increase the number of rescues or oblige us to be more selective in our rescue...

Anima – January Return to Family (1603-Max)!

1603-Max was accommodated in Anima from 12th December 2015 for 27 days as an emergency, by our member Mr. Filipe. This is only accepted in extreme emergency situations as the maximum time allowed is 15 days! Today Max was returned to the family! This program is mainly available to members and adopters at special rates. For dogs, 50 patacas per day and for cats 30 patacas per day. In case of members, the membership fees must be update and fully paid for all the year (MOP 360). Non members or non adopters may exceptionally apply for this facility paying double, if we have space. Priority is always given to members and adopters! Who has adopted one animal from Anima do not pay any accommodation fee in the first year of adoption provided the period of accommodation does not exceed 15 days!
