Anima – Our statistics in April 2015

Anima has rescued in the period 125 animals, around 31 per month! Of those, 43 were de-sexed and the remaining is only waiting a recovery and the appropriate age. In the same period 56 animals were adopted. The huge death of animals is explained by the poor condition of them when arrived, or because they were already collected dead or by some diseases that sometimes happen in crowded shelters, even if we try our best to have a proper quarantine and higiene. In April the number of deaths decreased substantially. Only seven animals died or were collected already dead. Anima adopts the policy of No-Kill and No-Cage, policies that limit our capacity to increase the number of rescues or oblige us to be more selective in our rescue operations! Today 12 people visited us, 7 were from Tak Chun group! More and more visitors come to Anima! Last year we have 5,511 visitors as compared with 5,032 visitors in 2013, an increase of around 9.5%! Anima – May sad news: Tatiana left us!

138-Tatiana passed away last night with a cardiac disease. She was sent to a clinic for a blood test and X-Rays as she was losing appetite in the past few days, coughing, retching and not as active as before. The x-ray showed enlarged heart, almost filling up the thoracic cavity. Tatiana was born in July 2005 (est.) and was one of our 25 eldest rescued dogs living with us! R.I.P. my friend! Anima – Temporary accommodation of 1465-Luna and 1466-Jorjão

1465-Luna and 1466-Jorjão were accommodated in Anima temporarily for 105 days as the owners Mr. Varley and the wife had go back home unexpectedly by professional reasons. 1465-Luna and 1466-Jorjão are now being in Anima until all the process of transfer of them to home, handling now by Anima, is completed. This is a service provided by Anima free of charge to its members (except accommodation), but the costs paid do third parties by the owners are very huge (blood tests, express mail, transportation to HK, transportation to home, IACM certificates, and follow-up by a specialized agency that handles all after leaving Macau)! This was an emergency and as so Anima accepted to keep them longer than the 15 days, even if this creates to us serious problems! Why? Because we are facing a good example of a responsible family that had to solve the problem of their pets in...

Anima – May Rescue of eight puppies and their mother

1456-Tammy, 1457-Tala, 1458-Talia, 1459-Tessa, 1460-Tasha, 1461-Tamar, 1462-Travis, 1463-Tiago and 1464-Tora (the mother) were rescued by Anima after a call from Ms. Ho reporting that eight puppies and the mother were abandoned in a cage in Rua de S. Francisco Xavier. According to the neighbors, the puppies with the mother have been there in a cage from around 5:00am this morning. The mother and puppies were full of ticks and fleas and 1464-Tora (the mother) was not willing to eat. She was temporarily separated from her puppies until she recovers. A good bath was immediately given to all of them before the frontline spray! The puppies now are being feed at home in groups of four by our supervisor Ms. Zoe and our handler Mr. Ronaldo.
