We are totally sure that many animal lovers want the best for the animals that live in the streets. But we have to understand that loving or respecting the rights of the animals doesn’t mean necessarily that we make crazy decisions in our life collecting all animals in the streets and putting them in our home.
We have several of these situations in Macau, we may understand the frustrations of some members of our community, but we disagree!
We think this is not a solution neither for the people nor for the animals!
We have also people putting tight collars to animals that live in the streets, and seem not controlled by anybody, forgetting that animals grow up, some get fat, and others may have allergies to some collars. These collars may deeply hurt the animals! We are seeing now many animals free in the streets with such collars and some seem very tight!
In the last year we received two calls regarding the first situation (people with around 25 dogs at home or warehouses that seem more a kennel than a healthy home or commercial space) and four calls regarding the last situation.
Regarding the first situations, in one case we were able only to help partly and in the second case we asked IAS (Institute for Social Affairs) to help us. As we have no capacity to move those animals to Anima, we could only help with food and medical care!
Human situations must be handled by professionals!
Regarding the second situation, we were able to solve two (one cat and one dog). One dog in Hac Sa Van was not able to be help as people call us and do not wait for us. When we arrive from Coloane no dog could be seen in so crowded area. If you want us to help in these cases you must stay near the animal and continue keeping in touch with us. Now we have the four case, an animal that is hurt by a collar but nobody is able to catch him and we don’t find who did that. We are still trying to catch the animal!
Please, be responsible!
Thank You!
